Job Description

Get to know Okta

Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you. About The Okta Personal Team

The Okta Personal team is building the future of digital identity. The way we prove our identity online is undergoing a fundamental shift, moving from scanning physical documents to using secure, portable digital credentials. In a world with AI-driven fraud, one-time verification is no longer enough; the industry needs a reusable, tamper-proof way to prove identity at scale.

To address this massive need, our focus is on building a Verifiable Digital Credentials (VDCs) platform to power this new ecosystem. VDCs are reusable digital records that prove identity, qualifications, or skills instantly, giving holders control to share only what's necessary. We are responsible for the infrastructure, user-facing features, and business of verifying, issuing, and holding VDCs for enterprise customers.

We are a small team of engineers, product managers, and designers who are bringing Okta's expertise in identity to define the future of VDCs, focusing on open standards and interoperability.

About the role

As a Product Designer on the Okta Personal team, you will play a key role in designing the user experience for our new VDC platform. You will work closely with senior designers, product managers, and engineers to translate complex enterprise requirements and technical standards into intuitive, user-centered interfaces.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a designer who is eager to learn and grow. You won't just be making things "look good"—you will be solving difficult interaction problems for developers, IT administrators, and end-users in a highly ambiguous and technical space. We value designers who have an instinct for B2B software and can navigate complex workflows with clarity.

What you'll do

  • Design core workflows: Create high-quality wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for our VDC platform, focusing on both the enterprise admin experience and developer tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to understand technical constraints and ensure your designs are feasible and effective.
  • Translate complexity into clarity: Take dense technical requirements and complex enterprise use cases and turn them into simple, elegant user interfaces.
  • Support the design process: Participate in design critiques, share your work early and often, and iterate based on feedback from the team and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the system: Utilize and contribute to Okta’s design system to ensure consistency across our products while advocating for new patterns when necessary.
  • Advocate for the user: Assist in user research sessions and usability testing to better understand the needs of our customers (developers and IT admins) and integrate those insights into your designs.

You have

  • Relevant experience and a strong portfolio demonstrating product design work, ideally within B2B, enterprise, or SaaS environments.
  • Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (Figma is preferred).
  • A strong understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
  • The ability to communicate design decisions clearly to cross-functional partners.
  • A growth mindset: You are excited to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and are eager to learn about the complex world of digital identity and verifiable credentials.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for craft, from high-level flows down to the pixel-perfect UI.
